Our Story - The Nesting Co

Every summer, Athens turns into one giant relay race–renters clearing out, students moving in, and about six weeks of chaos crammed into a two-week lease gap. We started The Nesting Co. to take the moving baton for renters, students, and parents alike. Founded by Ceci Churchwell–realtor, hotelier, and mother of four who has personally moved four kids in and out of college–The Nesting Co. was built by someone who’s lived every side of the moving headache and decided Athens deserved a better way.

We handle the boxes, the storage, the styling, and the stuff nobody wants to deal with between leases, so renters, students, and the parents footing the U-Haul bill can skip the back pain and just enjoy the process. Call it full-service moving coordination, call it a lifesaver during syllabus week–either way, it’s complete moving care for every step between one front door and the next. Four kids. Four college move-ins. Four move-outs. I know exactly what that trunk looks like at 9 pm the night before, and exactly what it feels like to drive away from that dorm room for the first time. I’ve also spent more than 20 years in Athens real estate and property management, which means I’ve handled the logistics, the design, and the hundred small details most people don’t think about until they’re stuck with them.

I graduated from the University of Georgia in 2024 with a degree in marketing from The Terry College of Business.

As a native South Carolinian, I spent all four of my years moving in and moving out of UGA and Athens each summer, and the headache that comes from orchestrating it all from a different state. As a member of a sorority during school, I witnessed firsthand the struggle of trying to move into your new place in the early August heat, right when you’re in the thick of sorority  rush prep.

Between rush, school starting, and just being exhausted from it all, making time to unpack, get settled, or worry about moving again next fall is the last thing on your mind. The Nesting Co. really fills a gap that I know many of my friends and I dealt with in college, and you can see all that care and experience evident in The Nesting Co.
